Penstemon ‘Margarita BOP’ is a small, evergreen shrub that grows quickly. This plant has narrow, deep green leaves and a woody base. Can be confused with milkweed. The flowers are deep purple and loved by hummingbirds (that is.. if they are brave enough to get that close to the floor to drink from them). Sadly, these plants only bloom for about a month, which isnt very long.

In the garden, these are used more for pops of color around pathways and planter beds. They aren’t reliable enough for a full scale ground cover. They can go semi-deciduous in the Summer if it suffers drought conditions. These can be cut back to the stems each year for the freshest growth. This plant is stunning but doesn’t bloom very long. It also blooms later in the Spring so you won’t have it at the peak of Spring when most of the annuals are blooming.
