Clustered Field Sedge is a small, rhizome spreading grass that has medium to deep green leaves. The plant goes Summer semi-deciduous if it is in a dry area. I have not seen this plant in the wild.. or at least I didn’t recognize it.

In the garden, this plant is often used around stream beds to add a pop of green around the boulders. The plant is also used as a lawn alternative. I personally am not a huge fan of this plant because it can be difficult to keep contained and remove it when needed. A good alternative would be Carex tumulicola. It stays smaller, neater, slower growing and more clumping vs spreading.
